Ellusinian II | Fine Art Photography | Greg Selby

Ellusinian II is the second frame in a sequence of three, made moments after Ellusinian I, as the same wave moved through its full arc. The composure of the first frame is gone. The lip has fully pitched, the curl folding over itself, the interior of the wave now visible as a dark teal vortex pulling inward. The wave is committing.

This is the frame where everything is in motion at once. The face is still smooth and dark, the white sky still behind it, but the top of the wave has become something else entirely, a coiling, churning form that is simultaneously beautiful and about to disappear. Shot close enough on the South Coast to see the texture inside the curl, the light catching the water as it folds.

On its own, Ellusinian II is a study in the moment of transformation. As part of the series, it is the pivot, the frame between potential and consequence.

For spaces that want movement held still. The ocean at the exact moment of commitment.

Printed to museum-quality archival standards using premium pigment inks. Available on Satin Paper, Matte Paper, Framed Canvas, or Glass.

Artist's Quiet Thoughts

The second frame is always the hardest to be present for. Everything is happening at once. — Greg Selby
