Ellusinian I | Coastal Ocean Decor  | Greg Selby

Ellusinian I is the first frame in a sequence of three — made on the Sapphire coast as a single wave moved through, each photograph a moment apart, each one a different stage of the same event. This is the beginning. The wave is clean and fully formed, a deep teal face smooth and glassy, the curl just beginning to pitch against a pale white sky. Nothing has broken yet. Everything is still held.

There is a quiet authority to a wave at this stage. It has travelled a long way to get here, built by wind and fetch across open ocean, shaped by the seafloor as it approached the Sapphire Coast,  and now it holds its form for one last moment before the sequence continues.

On its own, Ellusinian I is a study in composure. As part of the series, it is the breath before everything changes.
