Heiroglyphics was taken in Bermagui, close enough to a wave that its surface fills the entire frame. What you are looking at is not just water, it is the face of a large swell, deeply ridged and grooved by the wind and the energy moving through it, streaks of gold and teal catching in the channels as the curl begins to fold. The surface reads like something carved. Like script. Like a language the ocean has been writing for longer than anyone has been around to read it.
The name came naturally. Every ridge, every groove, every line of colour running through the dark water is a mark, a record of the conditions that built this wave, the distance it travelled, the wind that shaped it. Ancient, unreadable, and completely precise.
