Esculate | Australian Coastal Decor | Greg Selby
Esculate was made from the water on the Australian Coast, at the exact moment a large wave decided it was done holding itself together. The lip detonates across the full width of the frame, a massive white water explosion, the face beneath it a deep, saturated green, warm light catching the spray from behind and turning the chaos briefly luminous against a heavy grey-purple sky.
This is not a wave at its most elegant. It is a wave at its most honest releasing everything it carried across open ocean in a single, violent moment. The energy in this photograph is not implied. It is present.
Shot from the water on the Australian Coast, where swells arrive with the full force of the Southern Ocean behind them and break without apology. To be in the water when a wave like this comes through is to understand, very quickly, the difference between watching the ocean and being inside it.
For spaces that want something that fills the room. The ocean at full volume.
