Ambrel | Fine Art Photography | Greg Selby

Ambrel was made at the end of the day on the South Coast, when the sun had dropped low enough to turn the entire ocean amber. The wave is small — a single peak, dark against the light, the crest catching the last warmth of the afternoon and throwing a fine spray that glows like gold against the bronze surface of the water.

This is not a wave about power. It is a wave about light — about the way the ocean holds the colour of the sky at the end of a day and gives it back in a form that is entirely its own. The surface is deep and warm, the wave a quiet interruption in something vast and still.

Shot on the Sapphire Coast in the final minutes before the light changed. These moments do not last. The ocean moves, the sun drops, and the amber is gone. This photograph is what remains.

For interiors that want warmth and stillness. The ocean at the end of the day, when everything slows down.

Printed to museum-quality archival standards using premium pigment inks. Available on Satin Paper, Matte Paper, Framed Canvas, or Glass.

Artist's Quiet Thoughts

The ocean doesn’t always need to be dramatic to be extraordinary. Sometimes it just needs the right light. — Greg Selby
