Viseary was made from water level on the Australian Coast on a day when the ocean was at its most vivid. The wave is a large, open barrel the inside glowing brilliant teal and aqua, the lip throwing over with dramatic white spray against a bright blue sky. The colours are not enhanced. This is what the Coast looks like when a clean swell arrives on a clear day and the light hits the water at exactly the right angle.
There is an energy to this photograph that is immediate. The barrel is wide open, the face clean and fast, the spray catching the light as it lifts off the lip. Shot close enough to feel the scale of the wave, far enough to hold the full arc of the curl in the frame. It is the kind of image that makes people stop mid-conversation.
