Aeschylus is the kind of photograph that stops people in a room. Made at Kiama on the South Coast, it captures a massive wave from above as it detonates the white water billowing upward, the teal interior of the barrel glowing beneath it, the dark face of the wave spiralling downward in a vortex of pure energy. The composition is circular, dynamic, and completely arresting. There is no single place for the eye to rest, it moves through the frame the way the wave itself moves, continuously and with force.
